Public Footpaths are managed by Norfolk County Council and there are full details of their contact numbers and responsibilities on their website. They also have an interactive map that you can use to view all footpaths managed in the County which can be found here: http://maps.norfolk.gov.uk/highways/ While NCC are responsible for keeping the footpaths well maintained, the day-to-day responsibility for clearing the footpath often falls to the local landowner over which the footpath travels.
For convenience a map of the footpaths in Swanton Abbott is attached here. If you find an immediate problem with a footpath in our area please contact the Parish Council on enquiries@swantonabbottparishcouncil.gov.uk and we will try to sort it out.
If you are interested in doing some walking in the area you may be interested in joining the walking group. It is led by Steve Day and is usually a five mile walk starting at 10.30am from somewhere near to the village on the second Sunday of the month. All welcome. More information from spday2014@btinternet.com
Alternatively you could join the well-being walks that are run by volunteers in the area and sponsored by the Ramblers Association. They are informal groups which meet for friendly sociable countryside walks around the local area. For more information and a programme of walks in this area see https://tdcwalks.weebly.com/
