  • Traffic

There was an accident recently at the junction of The Street and Aylsham Road.  No-one was hurt, but it showed how difficult it is to get out of The Street.  We will look into what we might do to improve safety here but generally please keep the sight-lines at this junction as clear as possible so people don’t have to edge out into the main road.

  • Dog Poo

There has been increased fouling of the paths around Swanton Abbott, particularly those leading to the School from the Footpath and also between the Village hall and the Village School.  Not only is contamination unpleasant, there is a serious health risk if dog faeces are ingested and it is children that are most at risk.  The Parish Council pay for three dog-poo bins to try to contain the risk and we would like to appeal to dog owners to ensure they use the bins, or take the faeces home for disposal; You can read more here https://www.keepbritaintidy.org/faqs/advice/dog-fouling-and-law

    Thank you for your co-operation!

  • Protect your Pipes!

Anglian Water were called out recently because all four sewer pipes in The Oaks and the pipe going down The Street and into the main sewer in The Street were blocked.  When a resident asked the reason for the blockage they said it was due to “wet wipes”. Unfortunately the sewage system in this village is unable to cope with heavy traffic, so please make sure that only appropiate material is put down the lavatories- toilet tissue is fine, but anything else should go in the bin.
    Thank you!

  • Recycling

Bottle Bank: While the local recycling may take glass bottles, don’t forget that every bottle put in the bank by the hall contributes to Macmillan Cancer Research. It is regularly emptied and does raise a good sum for this worthy cause!
